... seriously i cant believe it... i just deleted 5GB "thumbnails" ... like what in the world...

mind you i found them in an old, unused,  empty picture folder...

that's actually crazy if you think about how limited the storage capacity is on "smartphones"... more like dumbphones amirite?

💀

im honestly annoyed how much space my phone is probably wasting in this way... like also why does "system" need to be 14GB... WHAT.

anyway through this simple "hack" my phone now mysteriously stopped running out of storage continuesly...~

🙏

anyone know some similar tricks to actually find "unused" stuff? the built-in storage "analysis" thing isn't useful in any way ...

Reminds me of the complaints over the years on how iOS doesn't allow manual clearing of documents and data for apps outside of uninstalling and reinstalling the whole app. Which leads to dumb scenarios where Instagram could have 2 to 3 GBs used up just for that. Is it just caching the photos and videos? Why keep it if it's probably never going to show again on my feed once I refresh the page.

I used to have a phone with like 16GB of storage or something like that -- extremely small, always had issues whenever I wanted to install an app. I used the app SD Maid, which found all sorts of crap and even cleared caches of all the apps installed; I ended up buying the pro version too.

yeah what probably happened is i moved a big folder but it kept the thumbnails in the old folder, something like that. utterly crazy.

ps: that still doesn't explain why the thumbnails were 4GB tho... but only explanation i have right now.

Mine was pretty minimal.
