I think what you listed here is a very good build overall 🙂

I would get the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE over the NH-U12A, you save 150 dollars and its just as good.

And yeah, You guys in Australia are getting scammed hard by the prices!

Well if you are upgrading from an older generation CPU and you probably need a new MotherBoard, have you considered AMD?

Its quite difficult to recommend Intel 13th/14th gen with the current issues going on.

Hmmm I wonder if I can look at AMD pricing in your area. The best AMD CPUs for your use case right now would be the 7900 or 7950, X or Non-X considering the 4K Video Editing and no real need for 3D V-Cache.

I would suggest the newer 9900 or 9950 but they weirdly have core parking and scheduling and considering they are brand new the last gen is just so much cheaper.

Take a look at AMD hardware pricing in your area and see if it might make sense. AMD CPUs are perfectly fine for professional work, they don't suffer from the same issues as their Radeon GPUs. For MotherBoards, a decent quality B-650 would suit your needs just fine.

If it HAS to be Intel, I'd get the i5-14500, because it is believed to be unaffected by the issues of the K CPUs and instead based on the 12th gen architecture, though depending on your region: a 12700K/KF, or 12600K/KF are likely to be better value than the 14500 due to their big discounts.

If you're happy to go AMD, maybe the 7700 or 7900.

The 14700K is a good CPU for mixed workloads IF you can trust it (it has 8 P-Cores and 12 E-Cores), but the jury is still out there.

Note that some forms of encoding/decoding (like AV1) may use AVX512 and if that is the case, 9000 series CPUs are much faster for these tasks.
