Hi everyone

I have a setup where my PC is outside my office for noise and heat considerations.

The problem is FreeSync does not work over the 10m DP cable. I presume it's a matter of latency that makes the technology not work.

I wanted to ask if anyone has a setup like this with working FreeSync and what cable they used. I see there are DP over fiber solutions but they're quite pricey to try on mere luck. Does anyone know how to get this working if it is possible at all?

And yes, I have tested this with a shorter cable and FreeSync works with my GPU and monitor.

Freesync works over 10m cables if you get the right one.

May just be your dp cable is using a much older dp version. May also just be a bit wonky or whatnot.

An optical displayport cable will do freesync over that distance.

Problem is how do I know what the right one is? I got this from Amazon.de but Amazon is full of chinesium... that being said, so are other computer online stores in Germany and Switzerland.

How can I be sure that I get a good cable? I have similar issues with USB over that distance and there just don't seem to be any "brand name" USB hubs and cables one could trust.

Radeon RX 6700 XT on a Philips 346P1C.

Use DP 1.4 certified cable. Something like this Delock DP 1.4 cable should work and is good quality:

So Delock is trustworthy?

Right now I have this:

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0919XLPFL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The Delock I saw has signal boosting. That might make the difference if the signal is just weak. I just figured at 3440x1440p@100 it should do the trick.

Delocks certification is true. Does it have to be 10m? https://geizhals.eu/delock-displayport-displayport-1-4-8k-60hz-aktives-kabel-85502-a2708877.html

Afraid so, the room is 4.6 meters long but the cable needs to make a u-turn and go through the wall and along a monitor arm... I found that 7m cables don't cut it so yeah...

I guess I'll try this. Wonder if I can return it if it doesn't work :D.

Yes you can. Delock is the shit. German quality. Also it comes in a zip bag, so its easy to return.  I used to sell PC hardware and I can't remember at any point that a Delock product didn't work as advertised.

Unfortunately I recently changed my cables to 1.4 because I had some issues with my 1.2a cables. Got some cheap ones over delock just to save 15 eur or something and it was not worth it. The cables work, but the quality is aweful and I fear they won't last very long..

Cool, thanks for your insight.

Now I have to see what to do about my USB setup. The monitor has a USB hub but if I attach it directly, it doesn't want to work. I have an Anker powered USB Hub in between but that sometimes does weird things.

That's what I get for combining a Philips KVM monitor with a long distance setup. I don't think very many people have a ridiculous setup like I do :D.

What you can do is get one of those cheap usb2.0 usb over ethernet cable things if all you need is just peripherals.

Else well you'll need some NICE 10m usb cables to get there and have them be powered cables.
