Hello all! New to the computer world and kicking an idea around and was looking for advice. I apologize in advance, i’m sure this question has been asked to death and if so any direction to find the answer is welcome as well as some ribbing. Long story short I need a laptop for college, I would love the ability to be able to do class work(mostly chemistry and med, nothing super intensive on a system I hope) and gaming(modern titles, some retro gaming titles, I have a huge collection of physical gba games that I’ve made digital backups of for the eventual death of the cartridges themselves and would love to figure out how to resurrect some beloved ps3 games). I’ve not been a pc gamer since the windows 95 days and the amount of information and choice is just overwhelming. All advice appreciated, would like something to effectively replace or complement my current, on its last legs, PS4 pro. Tough as possible as it may need to accompany me on a motorcycle occasionally but not required. Preferably a sub $2,000 usd budget though I have no idea if this is a realistic expectation. Any direction appreciated!

Then I would recommend getting one of Asus A16 series laptops.

This one has very good performance and it probably even has 2 NVMe slots.Buy one NVMe SSD for RAID performance, that means You should get double read and write performance when You add second NVMe SSD.I would recommend buying exactly same SSD or same manufacturers 2TB SSD when You think 1TB is not enough.

Asus A16 with Nvidia RTX4070 GPU and AMD processor: https://www.ebay.com/itm/156352388271?_nkw=Asus+A16+laptop+amd&itmmeta=01J5B2FNCST5RD6FAPQWSF1W9S&hash=item2467541caf:g:deoAAOSwGPJmun-y&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmbz3psgvKhvwTSphvp4wMZ2JCWCNQWOqEeque0f0jkLvIORCOy6gBFe296Q86haL%2F%2BT5%2FedwV6FocpynrslOGTeY4SFULbBUwZ1rZ4aedw8muqqShfDLnP%2FlCOK48GTMR%2B8oKdjS6ZBBoInVhXtqJWa0DEh7LwRFxWAmSvOZqr2Xklz6HXhaPy66GlcSTdprhgQhtIKYngWLcaGJCMX3WtjhwU9NG3p90cgtysorzgQU7HpLFHtsVbH%2BbUxeAolko%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7zWvuKqZA
