I'm running a MSI GeForce RTX 2060 GAMING, 6 Go bought back in 2019. Lately while playing games (rdr2 for example) my cpu temps go up to 75-80°C but the hotspots immediately shoots to 100-105°C. When I alt tab and try to type on google or discord my characters appear with a 2-3 seconds delay.

Would this get fixed by just repasting my GPU ? Or should I wait a bit more (till the 5000 series launch) and just buy myself a 4070 ?

After 5 years a repaste and full cleaning can only help, whatever you do when you'll upgrade !

possibly, you could repaste the 2060 when the 4070 is coming.

It's 100x easier to sell a "low end" card that doesn't "thermal throttle" (because low end cards usually don't overheat due to how low power they are)

AMD r7 2700, 32 gb 3600 mhz ram, Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING

the delay might be CPU related, it's not slow, but when you alt tab and try to do something else it can be bit much for it to handle

still better few seconds of delay than stutters or longer delay

Yeah i was planning on upgrading both in the near future.

i'd be amazed if the delay would be fixed by a GPU repaste, even when GPU thermals are problematic.

on that note.. before you invest in disassembling your gpu, invest in a paint brush and a can of compressed air, and clean all the dust out your system.

The delay you're experiencing could be because your system is not fully stable 3600mhz ram on a r7 2700 is quite a lot and might not work with DOCP/XMP profile. You can test this by disabling XMP/DOCP in bios and running at auto. Then test with ram at auto, If the delay stops, then try setting dram voltage, frequency and primary timings manually.
