 Hello Folks!

This is completely Off-Topic, hence the sub-forum. :P

I just got my wisdom tooth removed, and now I have some questions.

Obviously I'd like to hear from people that had them removed, too.

1. How long does it take for the numbness to wear off?

2. On a scale from 1-10 how bad is the pain after the meds wear off?

3. How long does the pain last?

4. DO YOU EVEN LIFT?

Thanks! :D

I don't find My teeth being pulled out that painful after the numbing medicine thing wears out. I've never used any medication. And, yes I do lift.

so it's not as bad as everyone always tells?

I found the worst thing being eating afterwards. Its ofc a bit more painful since the teeth is fully alive, but I didn't find it that bad

But the worst teeth related thing to me has been braces, god damn do they hurt, night and day.

Oh the numbness last for quite a while, maybe the rest of the day. It doesn't hurt much UNLESS you bloody move or touch anything :P It also stays tender for a couple weeks, did for me at least.

Yeah like don't chew food near it for a while sensitive.

Also one really annoying thing for me was the pits you have left. I had three teeth removed and EACH pit I had left was the PERFECT bloody size for grains of rice to get stuck in...lord that was infuriating x3

I had all 4 of mine surgically removed when I was in high school. To prevent them from coming in on their own and messing up the rest of my teeth. Only thing I found annoying was the little pockets you are left with after everything heals. Food loves to collect in them. I am immune to painkillers, I even wake up while under anesthesia, so even without the benefit of the Vicodin they prescribed, the pain was not that bad.

They are too close to the skin surrounding them, thus are hard to clean, thus decay/get infected easily and are a general PITA that you don't actually use to chew food.

Often wisom teeth don't come through properly and that can by itself be a reason for extraction.

For a lot of people the wisdom teeth will press into the rest of your teeth on the way in and can be impacted or push other teeth out of allignment.

I've got cavities on all 4 of my wisdom teeth. They're not impacted and all 4 are out above the gums. I can't really get my brush back there well enough.

I had 2 separate dentists both recommend I get them all pulled. I am horribly deathly afraid of going through with the procedure. My dentist assured me it wouldn't be bad because my wisdom teeth were all visible so the surgeon wouldn't need to go digging around for them.

My best friend in high-school had his pulled and he was in a lot of pain and his face swelled up like a blueberry.

I'll be following the thread :)

Ok, I can tell you from my experience, that the removing of the tooth, doesn't hurt at all.

It feels like someone is pushing on your cheek with a thumb or something.

The only pain I've experienced so far, wasn't that bad. (They were removed 2 hours ago)

Doesn't hurt, easy to bleed if you create suction near it, don't get food in it and it'll heal in a couple weeks.

Expect it to feel tender for a while.

I still haven't figuerd out, how to drink anything.  :P

Don't try using a straw, that creates suction at the back of your mouth where the hole is, just sip a drink from a glass and just learn to swallow without creating any kind of suction on the tooth area, you should be able to feel pretty easily when you achieve that while it's still fresh and raw.

Once you've got the method down, just maintain and it will fix itself.

After I had one out, I ate a diet of soups and mashed potato for a day or two, worked pretty well, you can also eat maybe some yoghurt, just remember to drink some water after eating to cleanse any debris from food.

It can also help to put a teaspoon of table salt in a glass of warm (but not hot) water and rinse round your mouth with it after each meal, this is to clean any debris/germs away from the area, my dentist recommended I do this and I did.

Well I don't know about you, but I got drugged to the point I appreciate why people might get addicted to heroin.
