Hi friends.

Last year I purchased Lian Li streamer kit in onknown condition, which came with controller, 24 pin and 2x8 pin cables.

I tried the 24 pin via argb header on MoBo and argb light worked but I did not connect the 24 pin cable to 24 pin cAble from PSU.

Since I am such a looser and bad things continue to happen to me, since cables are purchased used, what is the chance of shorting something up, damaging MoBo or CPU.

My PSU is brand new installed.

Are those cables simple extensions which give argb?

Work with any PSU cables?

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

Lian Li strimer is simply an extension cable with a flex LED strip strapped ontop of it.

It should work with any PSU cables

It might short circuit if the pinout of the 24pin or the ARGB connector is wrong

Or if there is some kind of manufacturing / usage defect, the kind that can cause a short to be precise.

Chances of disaster happening on new item : IMHO, should be really low

Chances of disaster happening on used item : idk

No idea why you're buying an item in unknown condition

It is because such things here in Bosnia are rare to find and an offer came from private advertsiment, seller claiming they worked normally, and I don't have 3K $ sallary.I am poor and only buy usred stuff, I mean I do work but can afford myself only used items.

That doesn't have anything to do with whether you are buying something that you know and/or confirmed really works or not btw.

Anyway, that thing should be pretty simple to check anyway

Check how?Maybe put multimeter in diode mode and measure opposite pins for beep?

Check how?

Simple way ?

Use eyes, fingers, and common sense.

See if the pinout is correct, see if there's any notable damage, see if there's sign of tamper, feel if the cable inside the braiding is somehow broken or something.

Not so simple way ?

Multimeter continuity mode.

YOLO way ?

Just plug it in and see what happens next

Diode or continuity mode, we meant on same.

very very low, when Motherboards detect short they often just insta shut off to protect themselves.

So simply connect which ever end of Lian Li extension cable to the PSU cable and second end of extension to MoBo 24 pin connector, correct?

one end can only connect to the  PSU cable, and the other can only be connected to the motherboard..(or to another extension lol )

Gosh, when I don't sleep for days, I feel so confused, that I don't even know to properly pug 24 pin cable.

So what goes where, I numbered the connectors?

Me so confused, I used to build myself PCs, now this disease, sorry my friend I feel like I drank half bottle of votka.

It's pretty obvious if you look at your motherboard's 24pin's header .....

I'm starting to feel like you shouldn't be building PC or anything electronic based.

hint :

Spoiler

There is NO WAY you can ever plug #2 into your motherboard header unless you use Hulk strength, which will end up crushing both connectors and header.

I built myself 4 PCs and I am into this since 1996 I even own Pentium II machine (do you have?), so please don't insult me..I have chronic insomnia,I sleep only 3-4 hours since 2017.

Ofc if I would remove 24 pin cable from MoBo I would figure out probably where to go what...but for some reason the only way I was able to install 24 pin cable,I had to tiwist it and plug into MoBo.

Don't need to remove btw.

Just google "Motherboard 24pin"

Not trying to insult you either, trying to protect your assets (and probably also your well being) more like.

Welcome to my life I guess.

Since like late high school, which was long long ago.

Anyway, building something that require clear mind is best done while not sleep deprived.

Or in my case, after either "passed out" or shortly after waking up.

figuring out how to plug in the 24pin might be the most easy part of building a pc, if u cant do that then...

Yes I can , its more that my anxiety dissociates me.

I am just affraid that cable might short something, as anything other which I bought used.

I built my last PC, not anyone else.

So my friend, I just measured all contacts in continuity mode, and they all are fine.
