I apologise if this is the wrong thread, I wasn’t sure if it goes here or in Troubleshooting.

So, I recently built a beast PC for myself.

MSI Slim RTX 4080 Super

AMD 5950X w/Cosair AIO

Seasonic 1200w PS

32GB Ram

in a Corsair 3000D airflow.

My problem is, the case gets very warm to the touch when I play games. I have 3 fans at the front drawing in air through the rad, 2 intakes at the top and one exhaust in the rear.

my question is, should I flip the 2 intakes on the top to exhaust to give better air flow?

What are the component temps? Case temp does't matter as long as the components are in check. (and you hand is a terrible way to judge temps)

Around the low 50’s.

i’m a little surprised that my crucial 4TB SSD which sits in the lower SSD slot under the GPU has a lower temp than the Lexar which is closer to the CPU.

i feel a little dumb now, i should have checked hardware info before making this post. Appreciate the help.

its because this case despite the name is a literal hotbox / air trap.

Get a Fractal Torrent with 2 180mm front fans , something like a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 CPU cooler (better than an aio for overall  temps, especially the GPU and VRM actually) and a 120mm Noctua fan for rear exhaust.

Should be good for about 20C less or more...

More fans =/= necessarily better cooling, that's not really  how aerodynamics work, the case design is more important.

actually yes, those were never meant for intake (hot air goes up so how would those "intakes" do anything?)

but the above still applies, i recommend a better case and overall cooling solution.

Regardless of anything else... yes you should.

You don't want that much possitive pressure. If you want to really cool things inside the case down, put the AIO radiator as exhaust at the top, and intake nice cool air from the front. Yes, your CPU will run warmer since you will be using GPU heated air through it, but the CPU will be fine being a little warmer. This is the best way to get heat out of the case and keep things generally cooler.

Even if you don't do the above, yes, flip the top fans to exhaust. Way to much possitive pressure.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this thread, it was very enlightening.

clearly I still have a lot to learn about PC building.

i might change the case in the future, but I just finished building the beast. I don’t feel like pulling it all apart again so soon.

and while it was my original intention to put the rad in the top of the case, I can’t because the case doesn’t support a 360 up top. And I already have a 360 AIO.

I did change the fan orientation though. So, thank you your advice and help. Hopefully I can make smarter decisions next time.
