A bit confused

So, I was planning to get a really nice audio setup. I'm a complete noon to this bte. I was going to get HD 600s, a Xonar Phoebus and a Schiit Asgard 2. Do I need a soundcard AND an amp, or does a soundcard have an amp in it? Is this setup good?

The soundcard has both amp and DAC - better to get a separate DAC that can stack with the Asgard if you're intent on getting it.

It's true. People are only doing it because of a few videos Logan made. My post serves as a warning that may come in handy.

Hue. This is usually referred to as a "Schitt stack". They do have a number of DACs that would go with the Asgard.

When such a large group of people suddenly change their minds right around the time of an event, it's usually not their knowledge that's the reason. I'm not saying everyone doesn't know what they're talking about, but a large group of people suggest something because one person said it.

Maybe the Modi? I'm not an expert on Schitt. Personally I'd go with an O2 + ODAC and call it a day.

An Asgard 2 isn't required, but a Loki would give you a better sounding source. This is all IMO, keep in mind.

I like how the Schiit stuff looks and Linus says they are reliable. They're made in US so they probably have good build quality and hell, who doesn't want to say to their friends that they have a Schiit stack on their desk?

Imo, much better to find headphones you love than spending a ton on your DAC/Amp. Once you pass a couple hundred bucks, everything is so minimally different

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I've decided on the Vali and Loki. Cheaper than what I was originally gonna spend and still great, with room for upgrade!
