This hopeful future of multi-core optimized games has been promised to us for 3+ years now, and there hasn't been a single game(maybe Watch Dogs?) that runs dramatically better on i7 or FX6/8.

Which is really disappointing. My point is an i7 may be worth it over an i5 simply for future proofing.

Problem is for better multi core usage game engines have to be scrapped and re-written.

I just don't see this happening in the near future.

Hyperthreading doesn't seem to even help in games when 4 or more cores are used, it helps for the i3, but not for i7.

If someone is building a gaming rig today, given they have the budget to do this, I recommend going with an i5 and pairing it with the best possible GPU they can afford.

Not a very promising showing for FX processors when they can't even crack 40fps.  This isn't very telling though because the game is optimized for Nvidia... we will have to wait and see what an FX6/8xxx + Nvidia GPU runs at.

40 fps is normal.

0:00-0:12 - 2 cores 30 fps 25/25 or single 780 at 50%

0:12:0:35 - 4 cores 60 fps 50/50 or single 780 at 99%

0:35 6 cores just a 10fps gain

0:58 all 12 threads no gain

A 3930K doesnt really perform better than the i5, i7's are useless the sweet spot for this game is just a i5 4670k. In general a 4670k isn't a bottleneck at all for a single 780 but it isn't properly taking advantage of a 2nd nor the 3930K. Keep in mind this game vram handling is crap, the gpu loads drop all the way down to 5% and 1 fps because it starts to use the hdd as extra vram just for a few seconds thats why it stutters when youre driving. Not sure how far AMD can push a 780 in WD as you see its a crappy multithreaded game, but every game thats just recently released is mostly cpu limited just like BF4 beta was.

After seeing the results for this "future, multi-thread optimized game" is it fair to call for Nanosuits to commit Seppuku?

Mate, I would call your WHOLE rig, unoptimized. 1000watts is far to much, your 8150 is probably the problem, but if your able to sell your power supply for almost as much as you got for it, you can get yourself a 650watt power supply and a better cpu.  The memory speed isn't the best but it wont bottlekneck.

Lol :P Well people are sometimes just too naive. This game is a real "8 threaded" game that can push your i7/8350 to 100% -> youtube.com/watch?v=_hcuYiqib9I

I never take the minimum or recommended specs serious, they recommended 16GB atleast. Blizzard recommended this for mists of pandaria (wow expansion) http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/Requirements/world-of-warcraft-mists-of-pandaria/11412?p=r but that pentium D or athlon can't run 25m raids at all.

Silence, silence and silence. Bigger psu will have its fan kicking at higher loads in.
