Bot banning (for moderators)

Dear moderators,

I want to know how often you ban and get rid of bots. I don't want there to be any bots on the LTT forum, avoiding bots is why I'm even on this website.

 

How do I sus someone out as a bot? And if so, do I let you guys know? How can you tell a human apart from a bot in conversation? Some people might suspect me of being that guy wearing a tin foil hat but I can never be too cautious.

Typically the bots that are on this forum are pretty obvious. In-depth posting about a esoteric topic and then linking to sites with services or products is a pretty clear cut way to identify them. They are fairly typical for Invision communities.  I doubt many users are simply LLM bots or something like that. I can't imagine a reason why someone would want to build them.

That's a complicated question with an answer that varies depending on what you define as a bot.

 

You can report posts to bring it to the attention of the moderation team.
