Any recommendations before I buy?

Posted (edited)

I am building my first PC and am aiming for the best performance to cost ratio with a budget of around $3000US. I'll be using it mostly for playing games, such as COD, Baldur's Gate 3, Apex and Modded Mechwarrior 5. This budget includes peripherals too since I have nothing. This is my current list and would like any suggestions or changes. Also are there any upcoming releases I should wait for?

GPU- 4070 Super

CPU- Core i7-14700K

RAM- G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 32GB

Motherboard- ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite

Storage- Samsung 990 Pro 4TB (I was reading and it seemed there was no benefit to separate drives for OS and games.)

Heatsink- NH-D15 chromax.black.

PSU- Corsair rm850x

Case- NZXT H7 Flow

Case Fans- NF-S12A PWM chromax.black.swap x4 (case already comes with 2 fans)

Thermal Paste- ProlimaTech PK-3 Nano Aluminum

Mouse- Razer Basilisk V3

Keyboard- Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless

Monitor- Dell S3222DGM (may use an old laptop as a second monitor)

Headset- Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023)

Edit: Thanks for the feedback, new build below if interested.

Kept the case since this is more of a preference thing. Kept the 990 Pro 4TB but there are better value options out there.

No mouse in my list.

The NH-D15 and Trident Z RGB memory kit are a sub optimal pairing. Normal clearance under the outer cooler fan is 32 mm. The memory modules are 44 mm tall.

An ATX 3.0 compliant PSU with native support for the 12VHPWR connector used by the GPU would be a better choice.

New CPU coolers include thermal compound. There is usually no need for more.

The 7800X3D is a much better CPU choice for a strictly gaming system.

It would be useful to know the timings of the memory kit.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
