New laptop for uni

Hi, I am going to uni in a few months and am looking for a laptop to replace my 2017 macbook pro. I'm used to both windows and mac as I also have a PC. I slightly prefer windows but this laptop will likely not be used for much gaming. I'll be studying maths and computing.

I've already researched the XPS 13/15 and the M3 Macbook pro but am not an expert in laptops so can't decide. I like how windows has more compatibility for games and a more customisable OS but prefer almost everything else about a mac - the build quality, speakers, trackpad, keyboard etc.

Budget is under £2000

Open to any suggestions

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14/G16 sounds perfect for you. Which will you need more? GPU? RAM? CPU? Storage?

what will your productivity work (if you're doing it) focus on?

None of which is caused by Windows OS itself.

 

But if you can remote access into your desktop if needed, there's nothing wrong with going for a Mac.

Not sure if you can find the same in your region, but this is usually left out of the equation. Its one of the few laptops with an 'H' series processor in the 'ultrabook' form factor/category.

 

Something to consider. I personally outrun the smaller die sized 'U' series, so I tend to stick to the H/HS CPUs which is a common naming convention between AMD and Intel right now. The extra CPU power will likely matter for your degree program.

If a mac is acceptable, then go for an M3 air. A 13" with 24GB RAM and a 1TB SSD is 1900USD.
You DO NOT need a MBP

Idk bout laptop that u can use while at university. If u an architecture guy probaly dell precision is good. If u like gaming theres a lot

Student needs portability and reliability above all, so unless you are using specific software - get yourself an Air 13" 16/512 or better, unless you need the real estate of 15".
