Hello I ran into a compatibility issue with my first pc build where it is saying I need a USB 3.2 Gen 2 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 header.

Here is my build on pcpartpicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/CJDriver/saved/DctH4D#note__ref__A

Is this necessary?

Also having trouble identifying the correct apr to order?

Didn’t do much of a research other than clicking your pcpp link, so I might be wrong. I can see that your case uses USB3.2 Gen1 TypeC and a regular USB A . That would mean you need two of the said Gen1 header and your motherboard only has one.

You might want to pick USB3.2 Gen1 to Gen2 header adapters if you want to have both USB A and USB C ports.

It should be like a $5 adapter.

@CJDriver if you don't quote people using the button under their post, most often they won't know that you've replied to them.

Either you reply them by clicking that button, or tag them by name like how I did

Also btw, I noticed you picked B650 Aorus Elite Ax, there is a v2 (version 2) of it.

I don't own the motherboard so I don't know for sure, but a member here (@ImWilly) mentioned in other thread that the v2 uses a better wifi module.

So you might want to take that into consideration, or atleast research about the two motherboards.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Refresh before you reply

O ok thanks! I will look into the motherboard!

Pcpartpicker is a bit picky when it comes to USB-C headers and ports. The motherboard header supports Gen 2x2 (20 Gb/s). The case USB-C port doesn't support 2x2, so it will run slower.

You should be able to use the case cable without issue.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

OK thank you! I ordered one just incase but will return if I don't. New builder trying to navigate all the parts. Appreciate the response!

This is a common PCPP issue that people ask about constantly. You're fine, you don't need an adapter.
