If your computer struggles utorrent... this isn't going to be a very simple fix.

 

Change clients all you want, it's not going to fix the problem.

Torrents aren't only used for piracy... I often use it to tranfer files to my friends.

Newsflash kiddo, Chances are you have used the BitTorrent protocol many times without even knowing it.

 

DELL, IBM, Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Apple, Asus, Acer..... are only a few companies that use it in their software and hardware for updates

several game companies use it also.

 

They just don't advertise that it's using it.

Try an older version if you are using 3.0 and up.

 

Utorrent went bloatware at that point.

qBittorrent is the best option for a free and open source torrent application. I stopped using uTorrent about a year ago since they added advertisements to it.
