Assistance with PC upgrades

Hi all,

I'm by far no means confident when it comes to upgrading a PC, so I'm looking for some advice on my current PC I only use for gaming.

My PC runs MMORPGS completely fine but with most online shooters it really really struggles and I'd like some recommendations on how to upgrade.

My setup is as follows:

Asus TUF B460-Plus Motherboard

16GB Corsair vengeance ram

AMD RX 5700 XT (50th Anniversary edition) GPU

Intel i7 10700 F Processor

Corsair ATX 650W PSU

I'm not looking to break the bank but I'd like to be able to play shooter style games in a higher graphical setting. I game in 1440p if that helps.

An estimate of your budget would help a fair bit to make suggestions.

DDR generation (probably 4 considering your CPU), speed and timings?

Hi there,

Yes it's DDR4 dual channel 2666mhz. I'm not familiar with timings on RAM I'm afraid.

I'd like to not spend more than (UK) £500 on the upgrade, but I understand that's tight.

I'd say get a better GPU and even a better CPu cooler if your temps are high in game (you can check with msi afterburner

XFX Speedster QICK 319 Core Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB Video Card (RX-78TQICKF9) - PCPartPicker

which case do you have?

here's the way to enable the OSD in msi afterburner

Hi there,

I've got an AIO Corsair H100i, my CPU temps are around 40° - 55° game dependant.

My case is a Corsair 4000D.

And the model of the Power supply is RM650x.

Thank you for the recommendation on the GPU, will I need to replace the power supply to accommodate this card?

You will not need a new psu

airflow? or non airflow?

If it's the non airflow then I'd change it to something like the 903 MAX or 903 BASE but it's not really necessary

No need to change that then

Do you have a hard drive, or all SSD's?

The 5700XT is a fine card still.  Even if you're running 2666 RAM speed, I can';t see that being that much of an issue.

That 10700 isn't awesome but not terrible for what it is.

It's like you have all average gear but you're claiming a sub-par performance?
