My Current build is a 8700K, with 32 GB 3200 DDR4 Ram and a 1080ti

These are the 3 items I am thinking of upgrading along with the Motherboard if I move to AMD and looking for suggestions as to what would be a good upgrade.

Looking for ideas on this and would like a few ideas before making a final decision.

8700k + 1080ti is quite good even for some newer games.

Cooler is a Corsair AIO with  240 Rad (Not sure of the exact model)

Primary Storage is a 1 TB WD NVME Drive and a few other SSD drives that are just storage

PSU is a 850 gold EVGA

I am thinking I should be good with keeping these items as part of the upgrade.

Main reason for the upgrade is that the PC was built in 2018 which makes it some 7 years old and would like to upgrade a bit for the next 7 to 10 years

Some C$5-10 M.2's exist sure, I was looking at something reliable other than going Kingston that's the cheapest or a green WD. Like 5th cheapset Gen 4 M.2.

yeah but old PCs still work well sometimes, you're on a budget offers 5-7-10 year solutions, but also some components could still be better for convenience sake

even though you're including SN580 for already purchased, SN580 is actually decent and probably better than both Crucial P3 Plus and NV2

TBH, I'd just upgrade the GPU. I run a 3080TI with an 8700k and it kicks butt in most stuff with 4K60 and high details.

yeah, I was just about to add onto, OP could just get GPU with maybe better PSU if needed, and then see everything else later, because GPU is much more questionable whether it will be 50$ cheaper or 200$ more expensive, because "things"

Two main branches for a 1500CAD budget:

1) Platform upgrade, but keep the GPU. Save the cash for a BIG GPU upgrade later....

2) Try to do the whole lot in one.

Option 1:  I would say spend ~1000CAD and do an awesome platform (CPU+mobo+RAM) upgrade and keep the $500 for a GPU upgrade later in the year:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($499.00 @ Amazon Canada)
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 72.8 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($169.99 @ Canada Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock B650M PG RIPTIDE WIFI Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard  ($199.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory  ($154.97 @ Newegg Canada)
Total: $1023.95
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2024-03-21 12:54 EDT-0400

Option 2: try to stretch to platform + GPU in one.....

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
https://www.shi.com/product/46492671/AMD-Ryzen-5-7500F-3.7-GHz for $225
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler  ($41.90 @ Amazon Canada)
Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard  ($133.89 @ Vuugo)
Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory  ($154.97 @ Newegg Canada)
Video Card: ASRock Phantom Gaming OC Radeon RX 7900 XT 20 GB Video Card  ($999.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Total: $1330.75 + $225 for the CPU, 1550CAD total
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

It'll be a bit of a CPU / GPU mismatch, but there isn't a huge gain in going from a GTX1080Ti to a RX6800XT and anything less will probably be very similar.

If you can't wait and it REALLY needs to be <1500CAD , then Option 2 and try to make some savings... e.g.
Most regions have the Dark Rock PX-4 cooler for 30CAD (nothing to do with BeQuiet, the company is called "Dark Rock") - really good value.
7500F is supposed to be 150USD retail, so ~200CAD, but 225CAD was the first site I saw on my first Google search.

EDIT: just seen the update about your cooler - just delete my cooler recommendations above and reuse that 🙂
