Suggestions for Netflix/Internet browsing laptop

Hi,

I am looking to get a laptop where the main use cases will be Netflix and internet browsing/emails (including youtube). I don't plan to game on it at all. I guess my main focus would be on battery life, screen quality and thinness. I'd like to spend around or below $500 US, but I could go up to $1000 (though I would only go up if there was some crazy big improvement to battery life, screen quality and/or thinness). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How big of a screen would you prefer? If you don't mind used... I'm thinking maybe something like a Surface Pro 6/7 might be a good option. The Surface Go would also fit the bill nicely.
