Yes, also depends on the game played.

There will be a bottleneck, yes, but only in specific situations like the ones mentioned above. There is not much point upgrading to a FX 6300, because you still won't be able to overcook it on that board. If I were you, I would invest in a good 990FX board and a decent CPU cooler, which will allow some overclocking to be made. Then in the future, you could upgrade to an FX 8320 or something like that.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here

Yes/no.

Any game with a very high player count is always cpu bound, doesnt matter which one even 15000$ cpu's. Singleplayers are usually gpu bound or upcoming console ports like watch dogs and stuff

^This.

Any CPU can bottleneck.  All depends on the game.  If you play MMOs/Mobas/Arma 3/Day Z no matter what GPU you get you will get bottlenecked by the CPU majority of the time.

So a fairly simple question for this awesome community. I was wondering if my FX 4300 will bottleneck an ASUS GTX 760 DirectCU 2 OC edition?

Yes, but not anything you should be concerned about really. Take your 4300 up a few hundred mhz and let it be. It's not like you have a testbench and various different cards and cpus, the difference is not worth switching CPUs for.

Unless you play Arma 3 / BF4 and really care a lot...then you might want to consider an upgrade if you feel that you can't live with it.

That is...unless your board is a super crap AM3+ microATX...
