Oh, wow. Ok, your power supply doesn't have a PCIE power connection at all, it's also non-modular. This power supply will not work for your build. You need to buy a new power supply that has the proper power cables.

You can not use a splitter on an 8 pin EPS(CPU) power cable to make it work with a PCIE(GPU) 8 pin. They are not compatible like that.

I just got a new rx 6600 from Amazon and it needs an 8 pin pci-e connector. I have an 8 pin pci-e cable plugged into the top left of my gigabyte A320M-2SH. Can I unplug the pci-e cable from my motherboard into the gpu and be fine? Thanks for reading.

NO, that's not how that works at all. The 8 pin cable plugged into the top left of your motherboard is not a PCIE cable, it is the EPS connector for the CPU. They are not the same. And will not work.

So there are 2 type of 8 pin cables that run from your PSU, a 4+4 pin CPU power cable and a 6+2 pin PCIe power cable. If you unplug that cable, your CPU wont have power (and you also might fry your GPU if you plug it into that). Your PSU should have come with PCIe cables, if it is fully modular, that you just need to plug in, if it is not modular, it should be chilling somewhere in the back of the case if you can not easily see it. It should look like this

12V ATX 8-Pin to PCIe 6+2 pin Adapter Cable | Akasa Thermal Solution

(Thats a ridiculously high quality render compared to what i was looking for 😋)

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

What's the brand and the model of the PSU? if it doesn't have 6+2 PCIe it most likely won't be able to provide all the power required by the system.

My psu only came with one 8 pin cable. And it’s not modular which sucks. It’s a cheap 650 W psu from Tecnoware. So if I plug in the 6 + 2 pin cable into the gpu I’ll be fine, and the 4 + 4 cable in the top left can stay, right?

Tecnoware 650W. Can I use a pci-e splitter? I have looked at buying a couple.

Okay so I just looked and the psu I have doesn’t have a second 8 pin connector. What 8 pin cable splitter would be recommended?

I would not recommend using a splitter at all. Your GPU only needs one 8 pin? Why would you need another?

Nooo.... that's not how those cables work. They are not the same cables, they aren't compatible. The cable you sent the picture of is the PCIE 6+2 pin for GPUs. You should have another 8 pin 4+4 cable already plugged in, in the top left.

Is this a new build or one that you have had for a while that has been working?

It's a junk PSU.

Maximum of 36A on the single +12v rail. It's ~430W PSU at absolute peak, so realistically 380W continuous output.

The "650W" rating is fake, and the lack of PCI-E cables, or even more Molex and SATA cables, shows that.

It DOES NOT have ANY PCI-E power connections at all.

I don't even know HOW you have a 6+2 PCI-E cable because the PSU doesn't physically have one.

Cable extension, going to nowhere?

The 4+4 connector is ONLY for the motherboard. The 8-pin motherboard connector is PINNED differently than a PCI-E 8-pin connector.

You cannot split it.

Price/budget?

Country/currency?

And website/store preference?

A quality 550W ~ 650W would be more than plenty for the current specs.

But if you are thinking ahead, and say want to eventually upgrade the CPU and GPU again later, 750W ~ 850W should be considered.
