rebel xti question

i was wondering if the canon rebel xti has a built in histrogram or if i will have to buy one

Can you show exactly what you want in the spectogram? Is this the frequency vs time plot? I don't think any standard photo camera has one.

mostly just something to tell if I'm getting a good amount of light with out taking multiple pictures

Just use spot metering and measure the highlights.

The XTI Cameras have a built in Histogram feature, not sure if that's what you meant by spectrogram.

As a side note for folks with older Canon bodies.  I have a T1I (500D) that I sideloaded a operating system flash onto it.  Look up Magic Lantern Canon software.  They have software refreshes for a bunch of Canon gear to add extra features that didn't always come from the factory.
