4TB M.2 with lower TBW or faster 2TB M.2 for boot drive?

Im building a new PC for linux mint (i couldnt install it on current pc) and i bought a 4TB M.2 SSD but didnt know there wasnt any cache. Should i use the 4TB M.2 for boot and possibly games, or the 2TB M.2 for the bootdrive and games. I know it basically wont make too much of a difference, but since its the Crucial P3 Plus (specifcally this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CCNCW5QX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details), which ive heard has less TBW (or at least crucial has less faith in it). Im worried about possible having the OS on the less TBW drive and may wear it out faster.

I went to have a look on the amazon page to see cache amount (before i found out it had non) and saw this 2TB 'Game Drive' https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B7CKZGN6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details, so i decided to buy it aswell since i know i will run out of space in maybe a year from games with the 4TB, so an extra 2TB wont hurt.

I will use the 4TB one for maybe smaller/less things to load, like factorio, and the 2TB for games with more to load (or that seem to be inefficient) like Payday 2.

TLDR: 4TB drive has less TBW, and im worried about the OS writing to it alot and wearing it out faster.

Im running my OS on a 500GB P5 Plus (windows) and play games off a 2TB sn850X, so almost the exact inverse of your drives, ill say, i doubt there would be much difference whichever way you go about it. I doubt, seriously doubt, that no matter which drive you choose you will not hit the TBW with the OS

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT NITRO+ [1050mV, 2.8GHz core, 2.6Ghz mem]

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

I agree, but i meant since the 4TB drive has a smaller TBW it will wear out fully faster than the 2TB drive.

Crucial p3 plus is a Phison E21T ( 4-channel, DRAMless ) + 176l QLC micron nand.
lowest tire PCIe 4.0 SSD, DRAMless on QLC,

WD SN850x is WD in house controller ( 8-channel ) + DDR4 + 112l TLC Kioxia nand.
High end PCIe 4.0 SSD, DRAM and TLC.

I would use SN850x for OS and everything else, as the speeds for the P3 plus outside of pSLC are atrocious.
And I would use p3 plus for games, the only problem is it’s slow, so slow updates, install etc, but for usage, it’s okish…

TBW is low as QLC, but games aren’t that heavy on writes usually.

I use optane 905p 950GB for OS, and 2 x SN850x 4TB in RAID 0, for games.

It's 800 tbw... That is WAY more than you will write as an OS drive in any normal system.

A point of reference. My OS drive is a 750 evo 250gb. It has 43,000 power on hours (A touch under 5 years if powered on 24/7) and it only has 38 TB written to it.

Ah fair enough then. I just wasn't sure how much OS's write to the drive, especially with updates and general operation like temp or config files etc. Thanks
