U broke part of a high value resistor

fanman1980

I broke one of the ends on this resistor there are wires inside of the resistor that are ripped. There are no wires connected to the terminal outside of it. Is it necessary to repair ir will it work fine.

If you don't need the connector that you broke off, it's fine.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

It looks like it's a  500 ohm + 150 ohm  resistor, and based on the size it's probably rated for at least 10 watts - everywhere I looked they don't know.

That means that the between the left contact and center contact you have 500 ohm , and from the center contact to the right most contact there's 150 ohm.

You could buy two separate resistors and connect them in the middle, but 500 ohm is not a standard value ... may be easier to get two 1000 ohm resistors and install them in parallel.

150 ohm https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-passive-product/SQBW30150RJFASTON/5586572

 or https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-passive-product/SQBW40150RJFASTON/5586541

First one's rated for 30w , 2nd one is rated for 40w. Rated for up to 250 C

Cheaper ones https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/yageo/SQP20AJB-150R/9167174 - rated for 20w , 155c

https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/nte-electronics-inc/25W115/11649310 - rated for 25w , 155c

For the 500 ohm section
