I am Bottlenecking, Intel I7 12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X3D?

I just recently upgraded my GPU from a 1080ti to a RX 6800. The problem is, my main game is CS2 (Formerly CSGO). I though I would gain better 1% Low FPS but damn, it was slower (I didn't know it was CPU Intensive, sorry just got back to PC Building and Gaming). But on other GPU Intensive Games such as Halo Infinite, its smooth as fuck.

Now my question is, which is better for CS2? Intel I7 12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X3D? My Current MoBo is MSI A320 and a Ryzen 5 5500. I know I'm going to replace the MoBo either of the new CPU.

Drop a 5700X3D in that motherboard.  It supports it with newer BIOS...  don't buy a new board.  It may not be the best board, but  the 5700X3D shouldn't draw much.

If you buy a new board, move to DDR5.

They said that I need to need to have a new mobo because it will burn the VRMs. This was the time I was going to buy a R5 5500 way back in 2023. That is why I bought and DIY'd my VRM with heatsinks, with thermal tape. Just like this. And it worked really well!

Yeah, so try out the 5700X3D on that board that you've improved.

If you burn out the VRM's, you can buy a new board.... which you were going to do any way 🙂

Save some cash, but don't "upgrade" to an AM4 CPU/board.  Get a AM5 7600 at least then.

You can add a fan to the vrms which should be pretty damn effective for cooling vrm temps especially with those extra heatsinks

Btw used 5800x3d is prefferable if you can find em for 200-250$ or ≤ new 5700x3d price, but that a320 should have bclk setting labelled fch base clock, just keep in mind that going past 105 or so means youll have to set pcie link speed to gen 2

I'm betting he's going to put the chip in, set XMP, and be done.

Throwing a lot of settings at him can confuse more than help.  Since he's not once mentioned anything related to it.

Still though used 5800x3d > new 5700x3d if you can find it at the same if not lower price than the 5700x3d

And bclk is as simple as it gets, seems like the only other factors are the pcie link speed and ssd but that only matters if you are trying to push >105bclk
