Intel Xeon Gold 5115 Memory Support?

I have a question.
Does Intel Xeon Gold 5115 Processor(DL360 Gen10 Server) supports a HPE 64gb ddr4-2933 CAS-21-21-21 RDIMM Memory?
Does anyone tried to install on it?
Thanks!

Yes, memory vendor doesn't really matter at all unless you want and have a server platform that has features that require their vendor memory i.e. HPE servers where you have to use HPE ram for advanced memory protection. Otherwise any RDIMM memory will work.

As for the 2933MT/s, it'll auto downclock to 2400MT/s.

Hi just a follow up. this list is from HPE website. there are No 64GB listed. does that matter or it will still work fine?

for context the server can't be powered off unless scheduled since its our production server which contains VMs that hold Database and apps for our system and Email servers.

Bought the Wrong Memory and it was listed for Xeon 2nd Gen Scalable Processor

The 64GB DIMM may not have been available at the time or certified yet, more likely not available from memory vendors.

It's a supported part for the HPE Apollo 4200 with 1st Gen Xeon Scalable, just using this since we have these servers with that CPU which is basically the same as what you are looking at.

Also what server model do you actually have? HPE DL380 Gen 10? HPE DL360 Gen10?

If so top of page 44 for the DL380 Gen 10, it's listed and supported

https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00008180enw

Its a DL 360 Gen 10 with Intel gold 5115

Thanks, then no not officially supported for that server on 1st Gen CPU. Pages 42 &43

https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00008159enw

Best to stick to 32GB maximum per DIMM and utilize multiple DIMMs per channel if you don't have all the DIMMs slots populated already. What is your current memory configuration?

LRDIMMs are different to RDIMMs, you can't mix them btw. So if you have LRDIMMs already then you must add more LRDIMMs or take out the LDRIMMs.

Basically if you need more memory in this server and the secondary DIMMs slots are not in use then you want to purchase PN: 815101-B21

This was what DIMMS are installed and got me to buy the P3053-0A1

and this is what the iLO showed.

RDIMM sticker with a LRDIMM configuration.

So my plan is to remove this LRDIMMS and install them to another server with the same specs DL360 with 5115 processor

and Install my new 8pcs 64gb rdimms on the other server also DL360 5115 processor

This is what the error showed on those installed 64gb RDIMMS on the DL360 Gen10 with the 5115 processor

image.thumb.png.26b3aecf84c4c8fadd3bffc1f2793d87.png

It was seen as 256gb on each processor both the wrong dimms and old dimms but on our Vcenter client. it registered only 256gb memory probably the old memory.

That sounds good, should work. You'll probably just get unsupported DIMM configuration error like you are getting currently but the ram should actually work. I've not had problems installing unsupported or non HPE memory in HPE servers in the past, although only when the servers weren't in production but you'll just have to live with the cards dealt to you.

8pcs memory sticks with wrong labels, coincidence? I think not. probably a xdeal to cheap out on memory with a correct quoted price one.

anyway thank you for the information.

can't really test this out quickly since those 2 DL360 with 5115 processors are production servers that we avoid to do maintenance because of its load.
