New pc rtx 4090, amd 7950x3d run cyberpunk with 20 fps

SaddamAWP01

Just finished my build few weeks ago, and I finally gave it a try, it runs cyberpunk with 20 fps on max settings, is this normal?

4K Path Tracing mode with no DLSS, Frame Gen or Ray Reconstruction?

Yeah.

I did my last playthrough on a similar 7800x3D/4090 system at 4K ultra everything but with DLSS on Quality, Frame Gen and Ray Recon and saw in the 70-90's. Game looked incredible.

PT mode is no joke.

so they outdone themselves on the demand for specs by making RTX 4090 run below 30fps?

I turned now DLSS on quality and fps jumped good, game is super playable.

If you want to look at it that way, sure. Its designed to be run in conjunction with DLSS and FG as a tech showcase and in combination, it works quite well. I don't think we're even close to the GPU power levels yet where native path tracing in a game that detailed is possible. Clearly.

Nice. FG and Ray Recon help a ton.

yeah I don't think "tech showcase" is the right word, I think it's more of a crutch of not having to optimize your own game,

I think it's this one right?:

So they added an experimental and completely optional feature that's more advanced than what's available in 99% of AAA titles in existence and just because it doesn't run just like anything else or is, in your expert opinion "optimized" to your liking this, this is a negative and a bad thing?

I'd hate to go through life like that.

It's not uncommon for devs to do "settings" like PT to push the envelope.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

You do realise that path tracing is incredibly demanding and we are still several generations of GPUs away from it to be anything else but a tech demo?

I mean, RTX 4090 can kinda do it with DLSS and frame gen but that is out of reach of most peoples budget so far it may not even exist.

I find it interesting that devs would even add something so demanding to graphics settings as an option, like sure it could basically supplement benchmark software, but also they're just copying Crysis

Maybe, just maybe, you dont play on max settings with everything because its often pointless. Use better settings that dont kill your performance. These devs will not be optimizing, and in some ways cant, because with Ray tracing, path tracing and other settings, the hardware just isnt there yet.

Figure out what is the best settings for what you want, but just saying "But my expensive PC should run max" often just makes you look silly. Theres a few best settings guides out there that compare visuals and such, often times the max settings offer very little over medium or high, sometimes its much more.

If I knew there is not so big difference I would simply go for 4080 super which cost 1200 euro less.

They collaborate with a graphics vendor to show their tech... How is that copying Crysis?

I think there is some confusion with the games normal mode, RT mode, then on top of that the PT showcase mode.

You don't have to use the PT mode on your 3060 systems.

For fun? Because they're partnered with Nvidia and want to show off the tech? It's neat tech they wanted to play with and show off. It was never intended to be on for regular gameplay, and that's clearly communicated in the settings where the option exists. It was added after launch, alongside further optimizations to the game (when running without PT of course), so claiming it's a crutch for not wanting to optimize the game is really ignorant.

^^^ I think it's fair to moan a bit about how hard RT can be to run, given it's clearly intended to run with it on. But PT is explicitly a "hey this is neat isn't it" thing, not a core graphics feature.

And now you're getting a big part of the point behind PT.... It's a showcase. It's not meant to run smoothly on current hardware.
