Hello guys,

I've built my gaming rig 5 years ago and I am thinking to upgrade it.Here is a list of the components that I currently own

 - Case  :
Lian Li PC-O11D Razer Edition Midi-Tower

 - Motherboard :
ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate

 - Processor :
AMD R9 3900X

 - Water Cooling systems :
Hydro Series™ H150i PRO RGB 360mm Liquid CPU Cooler

 - Graphics card :
Asus Dual RTX 2080 Super

 - Memory :
Corsair VENGEANCE® RGB PRO 32GB 4 x 8GB DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 Memory Kit — white

 - NVMe M.2 SSD  :
Samsung 970 EVO 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD
 - NVMe M.2 SSD 2 :
4TB Lexar NM790 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 3D-NAND TLC (LNM790X004T-RNNNG)

 - Solid state drives :
Kingston HyperX Savage Sata 480 GB

 - Mouse :
                                  Logitech G502 HERO

 - Keyboard :
                                  Razer Ornata Chroma

 - Headset:
                                  Razer Nari Ultimate

 - Monitor:
                                  AOC 2770 PF
Btw I am doing some research to change my monitor, having in mind a 1440p monitor since I think we are not quite there for 4k and for 27 " 4k might be overkill. For the gpu I am waiting for the 5080,hoping that this year will release .

So I am having in mind to upgrade just my CPU to 5800x3d since in theory my motherboard supports it,and let it like this for the next 5 years or so,or should i upgrade completely (CPU , Motherboard and Memory ).What do you think guys? I think since I will go from 1080p to 1440p the difference in CPU performance it's not gonna be so noticeable or do you think otherwise?

You will feel the difference, even when jumping to 1440p, if you upgrade to 5800X3D. It's much faster than 3900X for gaming, so I think it would make the most sense, instead of upgrading the whole platform.

Gaming PC:

CPU: Ryzen 5800X3D | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Elite V2 | RAM: Crucial 2x16gb, 3200  JEDEC. | PSU: EVGA SuperNova 750 G3 | Monitor: LG 27GL850-B , Samsung C27HG70 |
GPU: Asus Prime RTX 5070ti OC| Sound: Odac + Fiio E09K | Case: Fractal Design R6 TG Blackout |Storage: Kingston Renegade 2TB and Corsair MP510 960gb | Cooling: CPU: Alphacool ST30 420mm rad, Alphacool CPU and GPU Core LT and Core blocks, D5 pump and res combo

Linux PC:

CPU: Ryzen 7700| Motherboard: Asus A620M-CSM | RAM: Crucial Pro 2x48gb, 5600  JEDEC. | PSU: Corsair CX750 | Monitor: LG 27GL850-B , Samsung C27HG70 |
GPU: MSI Gaming X RTX 3090 | Case: Lian Li Dan Cases A3-mATX black |Storage: SN7100 2TB + Samsung 860 EVO 512gb | Cooling: CPU: Thermalright Peerless Assassin Mini Fan(s): Noctua 1x NF-A14x25 Chromax

3900X to 5800X3D for gaming is a nice upgrade. There is no need to buy a new platform.

This, or the 5700X3D.

Agree as long as it's significantly cheaper.

5800X3D is just like 30€ more for a 350-450MHz higher boost clock which is quite significant in games that don't benefit from the extra cache.
