Dell Latitude E 5570

AMD Radeon R7 M360

Intel Core i7-6600U

16gb RAM and 256 SSD

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Typical programs for an architecture student like AutoCad and 3dsMax and so on

No not really.

This is a OLD laptop. With a very weak cpu, a gpu that is NO LONGER SUPPORTED which WILL have bring up issues in some software, no win 11 native support and only 256gb ssd.

Its going to be quite bad for your usecase. I did a graphic study with a laptop of the time at the time (2015) and it was a 6700hq, 970m and 32gb of ram and it was ok but also clearly I could use more power. This one isnt even half as good so I'd say this is a hard no.

Budget and location?

If weight is not an issue... found a honking HP Zbook 15 G6 for a mere 400 bucks.

Scratch that, BIOS locked. Not a great idea with ex-Business laptops as features like Bluetooth, WiFi, etc. could've been disabled by the previous owner or company.

A couple more potentially worth considering.

May I introduce you to our lord and saviour, mini ITX systems? You could get more power for less money, especially if you consider ~20L to be SFF (which also implies that you barely move your PC). Get any cheapish Laptop for uni and a Desktop for anything that requires a bit mo power, babey. You might be able to remote into your desktop via your laptop, if your home- and uni internet connections are good.

Trans Rights!
Please tag me or use the "reply" function so I get a notification

I will find your Laptop thread and I will recommend an ITX build instead

And those are easy maintenance zbooks too! Cuz they need it they are dust suckinh clogging machines 😛

But for 400 ehh not having a dgpu in a zbook is not great for the first one also intel igpu support in 3d applications is hit or miss and a lot are dropping non xe ones like flies.

second and third zbook? Fuck yes get that if all else fails

That just means it's actually capable of cooling itself 👌

Huh, didn't notice that. Would've thought all ZBook models would have some dgpu of some sort. Oh, and it's BIOS locked, not a great idea, scratch that. For a consumer laptop that's alright since there's not much in the BIOS anyways. But for a Business/Commercial, that's where you can start disabling stuff like WiFi/Bluetooth and whole bunch of accessories based on corporate policies.

Yea, that Fury looks like it's been through hell and back but is still functional. That Studio, holy hell HP shoved a Xeon and a P2000 in a package not much bigger than my EliteBook?

And it actually cools ok. If you shove its but up in the air a bit (a pencil is fine).

P2000 and the xeon are a bit more power limited but great none the less

Yea, I have USB thumb drives propping up my EliteBook over the summer. Not so much in these frigid Canadian winters. That i7-1265U makes for a decent hand warmer.
