Asus tuf gaming 850w psu

Mr.Chow

Hello, I was wondering how good/reliable the Asus tuf gaming psus are, specifically the 850w gold rated one. I found only one review which was positive, however it showed that the fan doesn’t start until the unit is already fairly hot and doesn’t even reach full speed under full loads which is concerning.

It's tier B on the psu tier list which isn't horrible but for $10 more you can get an 1000w Tier A bequiet! pure power 12M

Or for only $96 the cooler master MWE Gold V2 (which is tier B but is also $20 cheaper)

Message me on discord (bread8669) for more help

Thank you for your input. Here is my dilemma though:
I've just purchased a Corsair RM750e for 99.99 CAD, I had to get a Corsair 3000d with it (came in a bundle) which was also 99.99 CAD. However, the Asus tuf 850w is on sale for 129.99 CAD and I also found another case that is on sale for 59.99 CAD. So I guess my real question is, 750w A-tier psu, or 850w B-tier psu with extra 10 dollar savings lol.

which case specifically was there on sale for 60 CAD?

Are you doing a new build or upgrading an old one? if the former then what's your budget and use case? if it's the latter then what are you upgrading from and what's your use case?

I mean for 190 CAD you can get these two (both great and the case comes with fans)

Case was the Deepcool CK500, I'm doing a new build mainly for gaming.

Here's the part list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/RvzM28

Wanted to keep budget as close to 1600CAD (before tax) as possible.

Only problem I have with your selection of PSU and case is that the cheapest price is not from a local retailer. Canada Computers doesn't price match unless it's from a local retailer, which means I will have to pay extra in shipping if I order from Vuugo and PC-Canada.

I'd swap the mobo and put in the cc560 v2 and the fsp psu

If it's already purchased I wouldn't bother. No point, in trying to save $10. I'd have asked for recommends first. If you can cancel the order that's a different story. There are plenty of better options for less or the same price we recommend over what you have found.

Thank you!

Niether, get a Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 PE 750 W: it is a bit cheaper than the RM750e; is also A tier; and has a 10 year warrenty, instead of 7 years.

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

Haven't picked up the order yet so still can cancel. The PSU filpo posted looks good for the price.
