Having issues getting my Xbox One to display 4K@120Hz on my Samsung QN55Q80BAFX. HELP!!!

I bought a premium certified solid HDMI 2.1 cable.  Yet, when I go into my Xbox settings, it will only do 120Hz @ 1440p.  4K only displays at 60Hz and this IS a 120Hz TV.  I really broke the band a year and a bit ago to get this tv in the first place and the 120hz gaming was a big selling/pain point (and I got a wife and 2 teens, which is why I am only getting around to resolving this now).

 

I would appreciate your insight and assistance please.

Check your TV manual for which HDMI port supports 120Hz

I also have a samsung tv and I don't remember having any issues with getting 4k/120 to work. Maybe check the settings to see if game mode is turning on when connecting to the Xbox. I can't remember if it needs that running or not but worth a try.

Not every HDMI port supports HDMI 2.1

According to the specs list on that TV they all do.

Where are you seeing that only port 4 is 2.1?

 Since 4k is working at all, I assume you are using an Xbox One X which should only support 4k 60hz as it is only HDMI 2.0.

According to all of the research I have just done... It does not. I could be wrong but everything is saying it can only do 4k 60hz or 1440p/1080p 120hz

Xbox one X supports 4k 120Hz with a HDMI 2.1 cable.

No big deal. The goofy thing is that some TV's only have one HDMI 2.1 and the rest are 2.0

According to the Xbox Support site, the Xbox One X only supports 120Hz at 1080p and 1440p. There is no 4K 120 support on an Xbox One X. The Xbox Series X does support 4K 120, but not the One X.

Ok. thanks everyone for your input and suggestions.  Note:

a) I had already plugged the cable into HDMI 4

b) I had purchased a brand new, certified premium HDMI 2.1 4/8K cable

c) I SWORE I saw that the XBox One X  supported 4k@120Hz.  A XBox Series X is on my list to buy sometime this year after I save up a bit.
