Check for carrier lock on GrapheneOS

Go to solution Solved by Niqesse,

Turns out I had to clean my sim... sometimes it's just that easy. Thank you for your help anyways 🙂

Hi,

I recently bought a pixel 7a on ebay, which I have installed GrapheneOS on.
Sadly, the device doesn't detect the sim.

I tried restarting the device, resetting the mobile network settings and reinserting the sim.

Now I read that providers can carrier lock devices, which I didn't know was a thing. 😅🫠 Since the device was originally part of a contract I'm worried that it is locked.

How can I check if it is? All the tutorial I found were for Android and didn't work on graphene.

I would just ask the seller. AFAIK career lock is a thing only available on stock rom, since you were able to unlock the bootloader and have grapheneOS then I dont think your issue is that. I might be wrong though, never thought about this subject previously.

Carrier locks are separate from bootloader and OS, at the baseband level precisely so you can't bypass it just by flashing another OS.
