In search for a new wireless headset

TomSerious

Hello!
Could you please recommend me a good wireless headset?

I just purchased the Asus ROG Fusion II 500 - which is cabled and I don't like it and I will return it.

I would like to provide information that was asked for in other threads:
I am from Europe (Austria), my budget is around €200 - €300.
It shouldn't be from Logitech or Corsair, since I don't really want to install their software.
I don't really care if they are open or closed back.
No allergies/sensitivities or ears that overheat.
Would be great if there is an "internal" microphone (no flex cable/wire in front of mouth).
I sit at my PC and wear my headset for about 8 hours a day and on the weekends it can be like 16 hours 😅

My last headset was the Asus ROG Delta S wireless, it sounded okay but after the last update it broke and it was like a tin can... and also the dongle broke...

It also has to have low latency, so no BT.

Thank you in advance!

For what it's worth, you don't need to install any nonsense if you simply use them as a normal headset. I have both a HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless and Logitech G533, neither of which require any special software to work.

Thank you for your suggestions 👍

IEM-s are not really an option, they always fall out of my ears and I wear the headphones for like 8 hours straight 😅

Are there any better options for headphones only, so without a mic?

What I forgot to mention is, that it should have low latency, so not BT.

Depends on what other features you want/ sound preference because practically speaking something like a Sony XM4 + USB Dongle offered by Sony over ear is the best featured option for everything you want, but the hinges on Sony headphones are insanely cheap and break all the time (it's why so many broken pairs are sold on ebay) and the XM5 are worse in every way (somehow) than the 4's. You also don't have any good choices in general so maybe Sony are the best for your use case, but if possible i would just save for an Audeze Maxwell because they destroy the entire wireless, closed and headset markets while sounding outstanding (you can count the number of better sounding closed headphones with one hand)

Have you looked at the Beoplay Portal by Bang and Olufsen? I think they check all of your boxes:

  • No required software (an optional smartphone app can be used to set EQ and do firmware updates)
  • Low latency 2.4GHz USB dongle (BT also supported)
  • Integrated microphone array
  • Light weight and very comfortable for long play sessions
  • In your price range (actually on sale currently, though I think because they're being discontinued)

One big caveat, as mentioned above, I think they're being discontinued, but (at least in the US) come with a 3-year warranty. In my experience, they have no problem letting you upgrade to something better if they no longer have stock to replace your warranted device though.

Other smaller caveat is battery life. They seem to drain pretty quickly when not in use. There's been a few times when I'd use them for ~4 hours one weekend, leave them off for the week, and they'd be dead by the next weekend. But the battery does still last long enough for 8+ hour sessions when in use.
