I recently installed my i9 14900k in my ASUS PRIME Z690P WIFI and noticed while installing it one of my AIO screws wasn't going in all the way. I readjusted the position and all 4 screws screwed in properly.

However, the computer no longer boots. My AIO spins, all my case fans light up and they spin as well, however my keyboard does not light up the displays are dead, and the power light is flashing fast. The manual suggests a RAM issue in this case, but i know it isnt RAM since i didnt even touch my RAM, only my CPU. I unscrewed the AIO only to then find that particular area I was having trouble with. The traces on that portion look mangled and so I'm wondering If I should just replace the whole board now.

First and foremost, did you update the BIOS to support at least 13th gen? If not, there's your problem.

That trace could be a problem, though I'd want to see it cleaned up before saying for sure.

The BIOS was updated to the latest version before installing the CPU as I had my old i7 12700F laying around. Also, I did reinstall my old CPU and the same thing is happening.

yeah you mangled one of the RAM traces then. maybe try removing some sticks, or moving 1 stick between the slots to see if you can boot?

otherwise i would just replace the board at this point.

Try the 2nd channel

Should still work as those screwed traces look like they belong to the 1st channel

I also borked a ram channel on my soyo h61 due to ziptieing a cooler and accidentally cutting traces with a razor while cutting the ends of the zipties which happened to be the 2nd channel so as long as theres no stick in the 2nd channel the board posts

Thank you! This does work. Of course, now I lost dual channel, but at least I have my PC working for a week before I replace it with a new Z790.
