Trouble overclocking 8320

Go to solution Solved by Vrbas,

1.425 - 1.5

That is way high. I have my 8320 @4.2GHz @1.32V this is the guide I followed. Here

So ever since i accidentally reset my bios, I've been having trouble getting a stable overclock. (Had a friend do it for me before hand)

I've followed the steps on this guide and used the instructions from this guy.

But so far i haven't been able to reach succes.

I've tried 3.7Ghz 3.9Ghz and 4.0Ghz at difference voltages but every time i run Prime95 the pc crashes.

Anyone have any experience, guidance?

Also make sure you set CPU LLC to Ultra High and CPU Current capability to 130%  LLC helps make sure your voltages dont go all over the place

Wow that's a great OC You have a good chip. I think my 4.0GHz was 1.28v. Glad I could help :).  62c is right where you want to be with CPU temp.

Also I have all the power saving options on as well such as cool n quiet, C1E, Core 6 state and it doesn't affect my OC.

When I'm playing my games it sits @4.2ghz 1.32V, and at Idle or browsing the internet it sits @1.4ghz  0.864V. So if you want to use that stuff rest easy it won't affect anything.

Turbo boost is disabled though.

Cool! Will look into it, might have to try and push it up a bit :)

As long as you have a good cooler go for it! Furthest I've pushed mine is 4.4Ghz only running on air though it gets hot =/

At 62 degrees, you're on the thermal limit now, you'll need a better cooler.

I guess i have an excuse to buy an H100i now ;)

I've got my 8320 running @4.6Ghz with an H100i.  I forget what voltage is but between 1.3 and 1.4, definitely no higher.
