Is 35C while idle using AIO normal? (Full load 93C).

Arthenium1

I have Ryzen 5 4500 (i know it's not that good). it's idling at 35C sometimes 38C using corsair h100i (the first version). and on full load using cinebench it's reaching 93C. is it normal, or should i start seraching for new AIO (or use my wraith prism cooler).

Depends on your Ambient temps for 28C-30C its good idle temp. Below 25C ambient it's a bit on the higher side but still decent.

35 at idle is alright, but that 93 under load for a Ryzen 5 suggests poor mounting pressure or not enough thermal paste.

Ditto on this, was going to say the same thing, cooling a Ryzen 5 isn't a very tall order. If mounting pressure/paste aren't an issue then the AIO is at the end of it's life.

Given the h100i has been around a little while, how recent is it's installation on this machine?

Are you using the correct mounting hardware to ensure a good contact?

How longer after installing the cooler, did you notice these results? Were the results good with the same AIO in the past?

35c idle is pretty low, my cpu idles on at around 40-50, but it also never goes above 65 in gaming, and 75 under stress testing.

the cooler is very recent. but the rest of the system is already 4 months old. Never test it with another AIO. The contact is good, i've applied nice pressure on the cpu.

Should i change the coolant?

Then 35C is fine.

Is the cooler compatible with AM4 as per the box specifications? AM3+ Air Coolers are same specs as AM4 but some AIO's have a slight variation.

As far as I'm aware that's not possible on units like yours. At least not without dismantling the pump/block, which can be a royal pain in the ass and can always pose the risk of leaking if you dont torque it down perfectly.

yes that's the risk that i've wouldn't take. i am afraid that the seal in the AIO is not in prime condition.

I don't blame you. I consider myself fairly skilled and careful and that's not even something I care to fuck with... And this is coming from someone who takes apart power supplies minutes after use.

Ultimately you may just want to consider getting an air cooler. Less bits to go wrong, after all.
