64GB Sodimm modules?

Hi there,

 

I recently noticed that ASUS and others are bringing 256GB support for 600 and 700 series boards.

 

However, what about laptops? I noticed that maximum supported capacity is 192GB on Intel's website for my CPU which is 13980HX. 

 

Also, 64GB SODIMMs aren't available yet / soon I suppose? 

 

Will this be happening for laptops as well?

I wouldn't count on it, at least outside of workstation laptops. The number of people who need to be mobile, while also needing 256 GB of RAM is probably not that large.

64GB DIMMs in general aren't available yet to consumers. They're supposed to show up sometime next year, I'd expect mid Q2 is when they'll show up, with the SODIMMs being a month or two behind them. 

 

Pretty much every laptop I'm aware of has 1DPC, so you'd be limited to two sticks and 128GB anyway unless you somehow found a laptop with 4 DIMM slots.

My Titan has 4 slots currently 128GB inside of it

192GB works it seems without BIOS upgrade I hope they will come out with 64GB sodimms soon

There are 48GB DIMMs that don't work out of the box because they need special training parameters, so it's 50/50 whether 64GB DIMMs will do the same. 

 

Again, they're going to be a couple months away at least. It's how it worked with 24GB DIMMs, they were teased 3-4 months before you could actually find them, and at least 6 months before they weren't completely insanely priced.
