Can i use windows 11 pro without paying for a license? or could I transfer my laptop with windows 11 license onto my pc?

just built a pc but am low on funds currently. I will get a job on summer break to get it so I was just wondering if I can use windows and get my games and hw done on it without a key? I also have windows 11 on my laptop rn and was wondering if I can use that key on it.

i run windows without a license *constantly*, all you have to deal with is that you cant customize your desktop (wallpaper, and some vanity settings) and you'll have the "not activated" thing in the bottom right corner.

 

on that note.. do you need windows 11 pro? if you dont need to join a domain or remote desktop into your desktop pro is essentially unnecessary.

I just looked into it and realized I only need home. if I buy home on microsoft store do i get the key as a usb or a download?

i've no idea how that works, but i'm not sure if you can downgrade a pro install to a home install.

I believe if you buy it from Microsoft you get it as a key. Way less common to see disks for is install. You can make your own installation media off of Microsoft’s website using a flashdrive
