Depends how dedicated you are to video editing. You can never have enough ram when editing, it fills up immediately. If you have an x79 board then go for 64GB, but z87/97 is still limited to 32GB

If you cant afford it right now just get 2x8GB dimms so you can upgrade with 2 more later to get 32GB

My 16GB fill up in a couple minutes of editing, and then stuff begins to get moved to my SSD which makes it a lot slower.

This is so true. I used to have 8gb of ram and it used all of it (not too surprising) then I upgraded to 24gb and it's using all of that as well :D

Yeah :P

When editing, the program loads as much of the video as possible into ram for quick playback. When ram is full it goes to the SSD, which is incredibly slower than ram. Even for a 2 minute video, you will use all of your ram, because it is uncompressed when editing. I wish we could have 128 or 256GB of ram with DDR4

I'm thinking of waiting till DDR4 is mainstream, for just that reason. But it probably is a few years away still....  <_<
