I do video editor (Premiere pro, After Effects) and Music Production (ProTools, Cubase, FLStudio). Am planning to build a NAS... But right now because of money issues am just gonna add a HDD to my system... Originally I have 8TB (4+4TB) planning to add another 4 to the mix... And later pull all the drives out and use them in the NAS I'll build later... My doubt is one drive is Seagate Barracuda, and another is Seagate SkyHawk... I don't know which drive I have to buy now as the third one... And whether this model mix would affect the NAS performance in the future if I use them in the NAS... And my system uses a 500GB WD SSD as the boot drive... Will add an 1TB Samsung Evo as the storage is I remove the drives for the NAS... Can some guide me...!!!

When you take the drives out of the PC and put them in a NAS, you'll almost certainly have to erase them.

Depending on what resolution you shoot in and your workflow, you might not see perfect performance loading video over a network connection. It's a great place for an archive, but keep your active projects local to the PC.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
