time change, why?

Why do we jump ahead one hour un spring? Iwould love if the nation stayed on standersd.

It was thought that it would conserve energy as more people would be working during sunlight hours in the winter for the normal 8-5banker hour jobs.

Yeah, confusing times when switching to either daylight saving time or back to "daylight wasting time" (?).

Some good aspects but I personally don't like it.

The general premise was that people would stay outside more and thus consume less energy.

 

This of course was devised prior to really things like AC and such, where you can now comfortably stay within your house during those periods of time.  The thought was that, especially up north, the time switch allowed the extra light to essentially be utilized (instead of going to sleep while it was still bright and waking up with it dark/ vis versa).

A minor of an annoyance, that there is no political pressure to do something about it. Some counties have changed it, but really not enough people care to get rid of it

It is used to help save energy and candles. I actually don’t mind DST as everything has an NTP client nowadays.

If anything we should stay on DST permanently, so the sun doesn’t set at 4 PM in the winter.

Move to Saskatchewan. Never had to deal with the time change when I lived there. Granted, I don't where I live now either...

At least its only once in the spring and fall. Unlike having a computer with separate linux and windows installs fight over the bios clock every time you boot to the other.

 

The dark vs light in the winter never made sense to me. I'd rather be outside the first hour after sunset which is still warmer while the first hour after sunrise is the coldest time of the day on average.

AC isn’t prevalent everywhere in the world
