My plan for this is to use 4 cores to run the Main OS then assign 6 cores to 2 VMs for my kids to each have their "own" "computer" i just wanted to make sure i was reading everything right and didnt over look anything. the MOBO manual was a little bit confusing for the PCIE slots but i plan for them to operate in x8 mode. and everything run at PCIE 4.0 speeds. any input is greatly appreciated.

An interesting idea, but you're better off just snagging a pair of R5 5600's or 13100f and Asrock Deskmeet's to throw a pair of short RTX 4060's in.

I concur with above replies. But if you are are determined you can likely bring costs down with a 2x16GB memory kit and B550 motherboard, (a number of B550 motherboards support dual GPU). I'd also suggest a 650W psu and case with better airflow.

To dedicate 1 to each VM

So youre working under the assumption that the machine will not only run the same speed as two slower machines , but also will be so stable that youll somehow fully utilised two seperate gpus at the same speed as well, correct?

Im really hoping you arent assuming software emulation is the same as just having actual hardware running the software correctly. Because if that were true the machine would still be less reliable than two computers. If this single machine breaks or has a fault , then BOTH users will be unable to use the machine vs only one user.
