How to mod/hack Sega Genesis Model 1 High Definition

Hello, I recently modded a Nintendo 3ds and ran the games off of the as card after download the roms off of the internet. Is there anyway similar way to do this sort of thing with a Sega Genesis Model 1 High Definition. I know it’s durable with the snes so I assume that there has to be someway to do it on the og genisis. Thank you,
