Check my Wiring?

Can't get this thing to work, I know it's a simple circuit, and I've re looked everything over many times, but just wanna see if someone else can see something that I missed, is my wiring on this messed up somewhere or is one of my parts a dud. Thanks!

Are you sure that soldering points on transistors aren't shortcircuting? The picture isn't very clear

Also make sure the LED and diode are properly oriented

LED is oriagnted properly put my sodering is pretty messy, how would I go about resodering without a soder pump?

Aye that molten tin stuff is no joke and sodering hurts, already slightly burned myself once lol.

if you are just trying to remove a little bit of solder you can normally pull some away with just the soldering iron. If you are trying to remove most of the solder a solder wick or pump can be bought for cheap and work well for that. 

 

Can you take a better photo of the bottom? Also do you have a schematic?

well looks like your diode is backwards based on the screen printing under it. I don't see anything else that looks wrong at first glance

are you sure about that? I'm talking about the D1 the zener diode next to the relay. the black band should be on the side of the symbol that has the line unless I'm completely wrong about that.

Yup works all the way now! Out of curiosity do you know how I could hook this up to a lamp as a switch? and thanks for the help again!

Well theoretically you would connect the hot wire from the plug to the common(com) point on the relay and the other side going to the light to the normally open(NO) or normally closed(NC) point depending on if you you want it on with current going to the relay or off with current going to the relay. While keeping the other wire going straight from the plug to the light.

 

I say theoretically because i have never done(have helped 3 people do it in the past but that was in person where i could look at what they were doing before they ever plugged them in) it and am not qualified to tell you how it should be done and you would be doing it at your own risk. And please do not try to connect both wires from the plug to the relay.

 

Start small like with a low voltage dc motor or something to test the idea. there are many write ups on how to control a switched outlet with an arduino. look them up they will give you some general info that could show you what to do

ok well you really need to fix the soldering on it since it looks like all three leads on the transistor are touching and you can damage them and cause the board not to work properly
