New Gpu. Strange lines during video chats/when scrolling rapidly. Are these artifacts? :o

DCCFan

Hi all. My son got a new GPU for his birthday, the 6700 non-XT. It's from a reputable tech seller but it was open box so I have a limited warranty, it's why I want to figure this out quickly. It basically seemed fine out of the box. I run this little test on the system https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/64728866 which said it's performing better than average.

But a few days in my son calls me to show me that these colorful lines keep appearing during discord calls or when he scrolls pages rapidly. Confusingly, such lines haven't yet appeared during demanding games. Are these artifacts? Should we be concerned about the GPU's health?

The issue with my card didn't go past the BIOs splash screen.

@SimplyChunk says that it looks like a vram issue.

RMA the card! They will send you a replacement 🙂

Thanks folks, I will RMA just in case 🙂 What are these artifacts though, do they always mean hardware failure of some sort?

Could be AMD's borked implementation of browser hardware acceleration. Try disable it.
