  1. Yeah I was surprised when this PC automatically activated Win 10, I was prepared to put up with the watermark till I could get my hands on a license lol but I guess they consider it a free upgrade. I had Windows 7 Home premium I think. I remember using the JellyBean program before. Will probably need it to get the key as I no longer have the original computer case with the license. Is the Ashampoo Backup Pro the same as Macrium Reflect? I wonder because I already have that one, it came bundled with other software. Otherwise I can dl Macrium.
  2. Thanks so much for the explanation. Actually, it came preinstalled with Win 7 but I ended up upgrading to Win 10 last year and if I remember well, it pretty much remembered the license and I didn't even have to enter it. But I did upgrade to 10 using the same HDD where 7 was, so just in case I will save the license number this time.
  3. I read that with prebuilt systems the license is tied to the motherboard, and I am still using the original mobo so in that case, I think I'm safe? just looking to make sure Once moved, I don't need to enter the license key again, just sign in to ms account right?
  4. I have the Focus Plus Gold by Seasonic (850W) and it's been working well. I also have a Seasonic G series (650W) and it's also good, but I'm not sure those are still made, the second one is semi-modular and the first one fully modular.
  5. Sounds like a pretty good deal considering prices today
  6. Thanks so much folks! It does seem like the Samsung tablet has the better cpu and igpu of all. Looked up the Lenovo one in more detail and it seems to have the Snapdragon 439 which is slower than the Tab 7's 662. Just curious, is the Samsung having only 3gb of ram going to make any difference on games or will it still be more powerful than the Lenovo because of the CPU/GPU?
  7. Hey everyone. Am not too well informed about tablets these days so will appreciate any advice. Looking for something with at least 3gb ram, 4gb even better. Also, sadly I'm not in the US right now so options are limited. So specifically, I've been looking at a tablet with the following specs (apparently chinese but sold at a reputabpe store): - Processor: Octa Core SC9863 - GPU: PowerVR GE8322 - RAM: 4GB - Android 9 Pie / Official Google Certificate - IPS 10.1 pulgadas - Full HD: 1920 x 1200 - 64GB internal storage - 5800 mAh battery - Wifi Dua
  8. Thanks so much everyone for your advice. I ended up buying the Black as the difference wasn't that much and I tend not to upgrade parts oftten. I haven't installed it yet because I didn't realize that I don't have compatible screws or standoffs for m.2 so I'm looking for a place to buy them. I don't remember getting these with my original mobo (one that was doa) and the one I got as a replacement had no accessories. Is there a specific name for these accessories?
  9. Thanks so much for all the helpful tips! Will probably do a clean windows install. I'm thinking I'll also load Minecraft to the SSD as my kids sometimes play by themselves (will have to move all maps or else all hell will break loose LoL) and the editing software.
  10. Hey all, I finally received my first ever SSD and was planning to move Windows 10 and a few other programs into it. Someone on YT suggested MiniTool. Is this safe? I ask because my parents once sent an older PC for repair and the person corrupted over 100 pictures due to the cloning software they used. I did read that another option is a clean windows install. Is that ultimately better? Another question is, what program besides the OS would be a good idea to move to a SSD? It's only 500GB so will probably not move my kids' steam library. But video editing software should go to th
  11. True. He could swap the PSU along with getting a GPU though. When prices go down, it shouldn't cost over $50 to get a decent 500-600W PSU. Personally I'd rather take my sweet time to build a decently powerful system than make a full PC that's not going to do as much.
  12. Get something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-OPTIPLEX-7040-SFF-DESKTOP-INTEL-I5-6500-3-2GHZ-8GB-DDR-4-RAM-NO-HDD/203311402192?hash=item2f564dccd0:g:aiEAAOSwtCBf6Qv0 Even better if it's not SFF because you have more space in the case. Make sure it has at least 8GB RAM because there are models with only 4GB. Then find a 240GB SSD or cheap HDD (I just bought my first SSD, it's not like you NEED one to use the PC). You can add more upgrades as you save money but these PCs are usable as is. Eventually add a 1060 or RX580/590 when GPU prices go down those will be
  13. I'd get something like this if I were you. No GPU for obvious reasons LoL but would get a solid motherboard from the get-go so that when GPU prices go down, you can sell your APU and upgrade to a nice Ryzen 7 or even 9 CPU and dedicated GPU. Do not get a A320 type mobo, they might not be able handle a powerful CPU. You shouldn't need a CPU cooler as you get one with the APU. You can get one later on for the higher end CPU. You could get 32gb of RAM instead of 16, but unsure if it will be necessary. You can always add another 16 later on. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5
  14. Here's the exact one I have. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-AMD-Radeon-R7-250-2GB-GDDR3-PCIe-GPU-FDT1K-DVI-DP-Low-Profile-Tested/265102265460? It's $34 now. But it's pretty acceptable compared to the 710. Aisle9 is right, it is a tad stronger than Intel integrated graphics. You can even game on intel CPU graphics. My children used to before I got the GPU. You just have to play with low settings. I'd say check out the rx460 but all gpu's are so overpriced these days, even those are going for about $150.
  15. I would not get a 710 GPU. They're so very weak. Even weaker than what I got for my Athlon II office PC. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GeForce-GT-710-vs-AMD-R7-250/m77649vsm8217 I paid $20 on eBay for this r7 250. You could get the 250 if you find it for $20 and use it while you save for a better card. It can play stuff like Roblox and Minecraft. I've even played RE6 haha Here's one (removed eBay link because it was the 240) The power of the 250 is similar to Intel integrated graphics, I think. At least HD graphics from a couple ge
