  1. Wow that was quite nervy of them to send you on your way knowing you have a PSU that was axed because it wasn't working the way it should have. Plus, wouldn't it actually endanger whatever high wattage GPU you put in there? (I read something about this PSU having OCP set too high or something and so possibly not being that safe for power hungry components) if that's the case they shouldn't expect you to put one in there before contacting them PS: Wouldn't really call what you were asking for a free replacement, given that the GX series is what the FX series should ha
  2. Recently found out I have the faulty batch of Seasonic Focus, the FX. It's been working so far but I'm running a pretty low end system ... 6600k and RX580. The thing is I am planning to upgrade my son's PC to an i9 and 3080 (maybe next year) but I was planning to use 850-fx for that, which probably won't be possible. I don't really think I should have to buy a new high end PSU. I bought it in 2019 so it's still under warranty (10 year warranty). Is it possible for me to contact Seasonic and get one of the revised (GX) PSU's? A not so small detail is I built this PC (from Newegg) w
  3. Very nice. I like the alien motif and LTT pad . Can't really tell it's a kitchen LoL
  4. Yeah 750W is probably better with the 3070ti. That Superflower PSU sounds good too.
  5. I have a Seasonic G-series 650W that works pretty well. Never really hear it. But I'm not sure if these are still being sold. I think they now have a line called Core. Maybe look into those. I'd buy 650W so you can have a little room for upgrades.
  6. If I were you I'd get at least the Ryzen 5 3400G. The 3200G is a little weak for 2021. What is your budget though? Yeah you can def cheap out on the case and get a better one later on. You can also get more RAM later. I would get a nicer motherboard though, like at least a b450. Or the B550 pro-vdh which is pretty cheap but good. If you wanna save some more you could get a used monitor and replace it later. I just wouldn't cheap out on the PSU as it's very important.
  7. I'm building something similar for my daughter Does your friend actually need a HDD? because he might be better off getting a higher capacity SSD as they're cheap, unless he had no spare HDD's and really needs the extra space. Like say a 1TB WD Black or Blue SSD. Also, I don't think you need a CPU cooler because Ryzen processors include a pretty good one (unless you wanna get a really beefy cooler later on). Here are some suggestions: I added a tier A motherboard (Steel Legend b450 was tier D) and a 1TB SSD. PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker
  8. I had a similar issue a couple months ago and it turned out to be the adapter I was using to connect GPU to monitor. Are you using one by any chance? If not, do you have another cable you could try to rule out a broken cable? Also if you have integrated graphics maybe try connecting the cable directly to the motherboard (without a GPU) and see if you get a signal from integrated graphics.
  9. Thanks! Will look into the 5700G. It's just that I'm not sure my kids need all that power yet. That's why I was reserving the right to upgrade in the future LoL. I tend to keep PC's for a long time so thinking in 4-5 years the 5900x won't be that much overkill, especially if my son gets more into game development. What do you think would be a good GPU to pair with the 5700G or 5800x/5900x later?
  10. I think the 1030 is pretty much equivalent to the IGPU in the 5600G. Might be wrong though, but I think I heard a youtuber say that.
  11. Haha I know. I wouldn't keep it for a long time. Just waiting for this GPU bubble to pop. Hopefully if it pops in 2022 would like to get a 2080 (so I can save a buck over the 3080).
  12. Budget (including currency): < 800USD (minus monitor and peripherals. Oh and already own the PSU). Would like to save as much as possible while still being able to upgrade later (to 5900x, buy more memory and a nice GPU). Country: Argentina Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Latest Steam games and game development (son is into Unity, Unreal and CryEngine) Other details: Would like a good 1080p experience for now (best monitor I can get for under US$200?). No peripherals needed and will buy a monitor later, though feel free to suggest one My son has
  13. Thanks! I am looking in https://www.mercadolibre.com.ar/ right now. Have not seen the CX line under 600W. Seems like most of the low wattage PSU's are CV for some reason. Yeah these are all pretty meh but for the system I have they should do haha Let me know if you find a better option though. I'm taking my time, will probably get it by xmas though
  14. That's good on Corsair. Seems like they deserve their great reputation
