Is it possible to improve wireless connection speed DIY at home?

My wifi is kinda bad, and I have to restart my router all the time. For example, my ping to 8.8.8.8 becomes higher than 300 ms sometimes. Also, it never gets higher than 70 Mbps. Help, how can I make wifi faster, even my school wifi is better.

EDIT: I am not connected using Ethernet, because my router is in an awkward position.

What's wrong with that wifi?  7ms is great, 175Mbps is good.

You can get faster wifi by paying for it.  What is your ISP plan?  How much are your parents paying for?

You can get a power cycler, which I would get.  So it turns your router off and on every night (like at 3am).  used one with Comcast years ago.

It helps in making sure that the channel keeps refreshed and out of traffic. Routers are programmed to do this automatically within certain time periods, but you can just force it to happen by turning it on and off.

U-Verse, 5G, or DSL? What plan?

What model router do you have? How far away from it are you? If you connect to it via WiFi just as a test, does your connection improve? WiFi can be a crapshoot.

About 20 feet? I'm not sure. It might actually be my dad, because he uses a lot of network for work XD

Okay, that answers one of my questions.

Wat kind of service do you have?

What model is your router?

What speed plan do you subscribe to?

We can't give you a solid answer without all of this information.

You said you have to reset it sometimes.  I propose resetting it nightly, so it's always fresh 🙂
