Cotton Battery From Japan

sebby490

Very interesting, I wonder how much it weighs in comparison to an equivalent lithium cell.

"Executives say the company has built a pilot production line in Okinawa that will begin manufacturing 500 to 5,000 batteries a month later this year."

I wonder if this will actually replace the current ones... sounds interesting to follow its developing.

If it's true then I'm a bit excited. With the factory beginning production a month from now its possible that this time next year we could see them on shelves. I'd give them a try.

I'm curious as to how powerful it is... I have a fairly stupid and dangours idea in mind that needs very powerful batteries.

Straping a tesla coil to my arm and trying to pass as a Sith with force lighting. Yeah I know it's REALLY stupid for multiple reason's such as limited range before the lighting begins hitting me or the fact that it could end up causing me harm. That being said I have some safety percautions planned out :) Oh the stuff I come up with when I can't fall asleep at night...

Hopefully this comes true, we really do need an advancement in batteries.  I am going to remain skeptical on this one until it becomes a commercial thing though

I'm loosing faith in the electric energy industry, about every 6 months you hear about a new amazing miracle technology that will replace all of today's batteries, but nothing ever comes from it and it gets completely forgotten.

Maybe it got canned cause they didn't want an energy source that moths could eat?

The battery could be used for so many things. Imagine if all the houses in where ever you people live have efficient solar panels. 50% is charging this battery but in a larger scale and 50% is going back into the power grid. Also electric cars could take of because of this. I like the idea of having an electric car like the Tesla's model S because where I live, Australia, fuel is becoming so much more expensive. If batteries that is big enough in capacity to power a home or just the important stuff like the fridge, water heater or what ever for a couple of days would be so cool and it would be better if bundled up with efficient solar panels.

One day, the world will be saved
