Pc reboots when gaming.

Engelbewaarder

About 2 day ago I upgraded my pc from a 2070super + ryzen 5 3600x to a 4070 + ryzen 7 5800x3D. Everything seem to be working fine until some friends invited me to play fortnite.

I was 4/5 minutes in to a game, then my screen went black, al the lights on te pc stayed on and maybe 5/6 seconds later I am back at the windows in log screen, I log in and everything seems fine.

I tried soms things like putting the dx12 setting to dx11 and even on performance mode. I put the graphics setting al on low, but the same thing keeps happening.

I verified the game files, also nothing wrong there.

I tried to put heavy load on my CPU.

I tried putting heavy load on my GPU.

I played cyberpunk 2077 on ultra raytracing.

I played starfield on ultra setting.

These games play just fine.

I was thinking something is wrong with the PSU.

I got a corsair 650W PSU. Should be enough to power my pc. If it was faulty it would crash my pc on other heavy games to i would think.

My old 2070S used 2x8 pin connector.

My new 4070 uses only 1, i just used de old Y-splitter and only used 1 of the 8 pin end to power my new card. I could maybe try to use just a single 8 pin cable from PSU to GPU. But i don't believe thats te problem.

Anybody knows what else i could try ???

Spec.

Mobo:B450 tomahawk max

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: rtx 4070

PSU: corsair 650W

Memory: corsair 16GB 3200mhz ddr4

Screen: 1440P

Did you reset CMOS after swapping CPUs? It's possible BIOS keeps old memory settings and the DRAM did not retrain, causing instability in some cases.
