Ebay drive failing sectors

I just bought this drive for use in my truenas server. The first thing I did was plug it in a run a long SMART test. After a while, truenas said the test failed with 8 failing sectors. Is this bad? Should I return the drive? I can't really find any good drives at this price point other than this. So if I were to return it, could you help me get a 3-4 tb drive for under 40 dollars, preferably one that is not about to fail?

If you want something that's reliable, don't buy someone's used, clearance gear.

So the 8 failing sectors is bad enough to do the whole warranty process? Like I think the drive works, I don't know what failing sectors means.

It means the data on those sectors are unreadable ( so you have corrupted files, you just don't know what files ).


use ReFS or ZFS in this type of disk, and have it in arry at least.

Or better yet just don’t buy them.

where I live, I can just send it back within 2 weeks, without even saying anything. 
But it it’s like this one, the seller also has to cover the return shipping, as it's not "working correctly", and I can just return in under "buyer protection law" of my country.
