How the hell does the MSI GPU have 2 fans but the Gigabyte GPU has 3 fans for the same model?

The three fan model is overkill and therefore doesn't have the fans running as fast.

No, the Rev.2 means that they changed something on the PCB slightly, likely for when Nvidia changed how LHR worked on the 3060.

Yes, it draws less power and is a little faster. The less VRAM can be a dealbreaker though in some instances.

So is the gpu with 3 fans a better Cooler than the the gpu with 2 fans?

But vram doesnt matter that much right? In my region both the gpus have very minimal price difference, so I'm thinking of shifting to a 4060 instead of a 3069

It depends on the game. Games like The Last of Us and Jedi: Survivors use a ton of VRAM, where the 4060 can end up with issues with 1% lows because it runs out of VRAM, issues the 3060 doesn't have.

Size has nothing to do with power in either regard, but it can mean better cooling.
As for which is more powerful, a quick Google search of the review of the card you're looking at will show you the difference.

Most people say that the 40 series is bad. But from FPS comparisons on youtube, it shows that the RTX 4060 has more FPS than the RTX 3060

@IndirectX

I was also looking at buying a 4060 and upgrading from a 1660 super.

I decide to go with ASUS dual fan because i want to avoid the GPU becoming saggy If it's longer in length.

I went with this model, waiting for it to arrive

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-DisplayPort-2-5-Slot-Axial-tech-Technology/dp/B0C7YPGFFW

Also from what i heard so far maybe stay away from GIGABYTE - they seem be notorious for bad quality and bad customer service.

If youd like the extra cooling potential, you can always go for the 3 fan and get a stand for the gpu to stop sag, some stands also look pretty cool

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT NITRO+ [1050mV, 2.8GHz core, 2.6Ghz mem]

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

I forgot to mention something - the 4060 might be a better choice over the 3060 because of these:

- natively without DLSS the 4060 gets 10-15 FPS more than the 3060 in gaming

- DLSS 3

- frame generation

- lower power draw

Also even if the 3060 has 4 GB more VRAM if you're playing at 1080p I think the 4060 - 8 GB will be enough.

I was also thinking better 3 fans than 2 but the GPU itself isn't that long, the radiator adds to it's length.

I didn't go with the 3 fans version because they can get saggy.

Yeah, i opted for the 3 fan 3060 as it was the 12GB VRAM variant as opposed to the 8GB at the time as gigabytes cards were the cheapest at that point (damn gpu mining crisis), and the radiator has a blow through section in the shroud for the 3rd fan which helps with the cooling quite a bit as it doesnt have as much hot air linger around the gpu, and at that point i didnt have a very optimal case setup

Personally, I had the urge to buy a 3 fan GPU because it gave off a more "Perfect" vibe

Back in the day, the 3 fan GPUs were at the top of the game. Even if 2 fan GPUs might perform better, I have the weird need for 3 fans

Doesn't the longer radiator just give more cooling?

Not really, that's what I thought also.

If you have a good PC case with good cooling it makes all the difference.

This is the one I am using

I made my 1660 super go from 82'C to 62'C in games when I bought that case. 😁😅

What case were you using before out of curiosity? Ive also just ordered a new case but my CPU is the bottleneck right now, so when I upgrade that both the CPU will run hotter and the GPU also as it will no longer be bottlenecked

Basic GPU stand

Oh it was an older case back from the early 2000s - it did it's job but cooling was never really too great.

Also the one in that link I bought for only 80 euros which was a pretty sweet deal considering it comes with 4 fans pre-installed and front MESH.

I don't know how prices are where you live but I am in Europe - that case was 80 euros for me and it came with 4 fans pre-installed (they were free) + front MESH + top GRILL.
